After the opposition rejected the CNE’s results, María Corina Machado and Edmundo González created a webpage where they uploaded 73% of the tallies, which would prove a landslide victory for González – whom the opposition is already calling “president elect.” Throughout Caracas and the country, spontaneous protests -especially in barrios and low-income areas- erupted to protest the CNE’s official results. At least 46 people were detained, according to NGO Foro Penal, and the National Survey of Hospital reports at least three deaths.

The security forces left after protesters also surrounded the Embassy. Argentina’s diplomatic bodies is among those of seven Latin American countries expelled by Maduro after casting doubts on the electoral results.
