Sinking in MUD
So the latest word is that the opposition primaries will be held February 12th.
This article lays it out. Apparently, Primero Justicia was willing to compromise in exchange for flexibility with the rules governing whether or not governors and mayors could participate in both Presidential and regional primaries.
The sticking point had apparently been that AD was demanding that if people wanted early primaries, then anyone wanting to be a candidate for President had to forget about running for Governor if they lost. Now, there would be a single primary for all positions, with flexible rules.
If this were to materialize, it would be deeply disappointing. Everyone involved, including the MUD’s head honchos and, particularly, AD capo di tutti Henry Ramos Allup, are going to get a barrage of vitriol coming their way from este que está aquí. But I’ll withhold my judgment for now.
Boneheads.
#26 … not surprised to be disappointed.
