venirautoJC’s recent post on VP Nicolas Maduro mentioned a news article from February regarding the situation of the joint Iranian-Venezuelan venture known as Venirauto.

We’re now in December and looks like the situation is worse: a lot located near the company’s assembly plant in Maracay is now a graveyard of unfinished body works.

The Chavernment insists that the company is still selling cars without any problems, but this rings hollow. Its production is at low levels, and some of its dealerships were closed and placed under investigation. Another thing not helping Venirauto (or those who own their models): insurance companies are not fond of doing business with them, given their lack of spare parts.

Is it any wonder why we’re the most corrupt country in Latin America?
