The small town of El Manteco, located in the heart of Piar Municipality (NW of Bolívar State), was in turmoil in the early hours of Sunday, after a group of drunk partygoers attacked and burned down the local police station. This being Venezuela, everybody was armed, so unsurprisingly shooting broke out: four police officers and two civilians were wounded.
I guess guys in El Manteco really don’t like it when the police shuts down a noisy party.
There are conflicting reports about the incident. While some blame the riot on drunken partygoers only, other witnesses say the police overstepped their authority. Which, well, wouldn’t exactly be surprising, would it?
