Are you a young scientist? Want a go at a Fundayacucho Scholarship to study abroad?
Better make sure you’re wearing the right colored T-Shirt.
I realize there’s nothing new here…but there’s still something shocking about seeing it in a web-form.

Trofim Denisovich would have been very proud of these wallies.
[that's quite enough -ft]
Cute… not PC… but cute.
Datanalisis told us, 2,300,000 votes in Primarias. But the result was 3 million, wrong, always wrong.

wrong thread, btw…
Something to have in mind. Would you have this attitude towards that web form if we were under HCR government and the form had some government sponsored social programs? Look, the nation is giving you cash to go improve your self and I don’t see anything wrong on asking for something in return. At least you have the opportunity to answer “none”. Maybe that takes you out of the qualifying rounds but maybe not.
If I was revising such application the fact that you do social work is a big plus. I guess it should open the question a bit more and offer the opportunity to say that you do social work in a NGO, but maybe that’s what sport and cultural organizations is referring to.
Rodrigo,
If the question were worded to ask you if you have done social or public-oriented work as a qualification to award you the scholarship, it would be normal, as many scholarship consider that a requirement or bonus.
But is obvious that the questions are surveying if you ideologically support the policies of the government and that’s outrageous, well maybe not outrageous anymore, but plain wrong.
CACR,
But the listed social programs are not inherently bad? Are they? Consejos Comunales is nothing else but a neighbor’s association. The encourage community involvement, etc. There are many consejos comunales that are not Chavistas. I agree that they are not effective right now but that doesn’t mean that they are bad.
Same with social organizations and the medical stuff. The only sketchy one is the socialist production company which I just inherently disagree with the idea.
To me it is important to say that many of these things are good and with some structuring they could be very powerful for positive social change. i. e. Consejos comunales should get their resources from municipalities, not central government, pero eso es harina de otro costal.
I agree, I dont consider that they are inherently bad and could be positive if better designed. My point is that the questionnaire is politically screening candidates. Otherwise it would say if you have experience in public interest word and if you would be up for volunteering in social work. This is a part of the political apartheid.
It might be said that FundaAyacucho is simply following international trends in college and university admission.
In the last generation, the prospects of obtaining admission to an elite college or university in the US have been increased by having some sort of “community service” work on one’s resume. In practice, this means that “community service” becomes one more item to check off to increase one’s chances of obtaining admission. Students do “community service” not because they feel the need to serve one’s community or any other community, but because they want to improve their chances of being admitted to an elite college or university.
Among the “community service” projects are short trips to the Third World to help out, for both high school and university students.
Of course, being a volunteer with an Empresa de Produccion Socialista is not at all ideological. Two of other three choices are vague enough to hide anything, and maybe Apoyo a Jornadas…
I wonder what, having worked with many a Venezuela NGO (Hugo and the Venezuelan government love NGOs, you know) would do to your possibilities? How being a former volunteer for a watchdog organization?
>:)
That’s the point: it’s not that a government asks of a young applicant to have performed social service of any kind; the crux of the matter lies in the fact that such social service should be specifically aligned with the historical project of the Bolivarian revolution.
And socialist enterprises are inherently bad. There’s no way around that,
BTW: it’s been days since I was able to wirte a commnet here… I had a problem with my WordPress account.
It’s good to have you back.
“Fundayacucho
Formando para el socialismo.”
The motto says it all. Not formando para el mejoramiento de Venezuela, not formando recursos humanos. it’s all about a political ideology, not education.
