For years, I’ve been a lurker over on PanfletoNegro.com – the unique, anarkopunkish open-to-all-comers group blog that’s something like a Prodavinci for hipsters.
It’s alternatively appalling and compelling (compalling?) – but nearly always fun. Today, I cracked and finally wrote a piece over there.
I give it to you bro. You are reAlly working hard doing what you do best, good writting, intellectually teasing and seeking discussion while spining your spiel! Kudos
Very good (although I would change one of the “coños” for a “no joda”, “carajo” or the zulianísimo “verga”)
Another thing out of your bucket list…?
“…ante el Atacama del alma que se ve por Globovisión”
I wish I came up with that line. Great article all around. Even after the depressing spectacle of yesterday, this year is just getting interesting.
Well written according to the audience. Kudos!
The day when someone I support is in government and he/she is looked down upon by the snobs at Panfleto Negro is a day I will welcome with open arms.
Great post Quico.
Very nicely written article! But I’m sure there will always be space for a Panfleto Negro, precisely because no matter how much we evolve from a future Capriles presidency, which for sure will be pure evolution… failure is inherited within human nature. Lets take a look at the future with everything going dandy and we’ill be complaning about all the podemos arrivistas, and specially the lousy Ismael government in Caracas for example … we know progress is relative. Panfleto Negro will always have material for cynism and anarcopunk rhetoric no matter how fast the bus goes ….
The question I have is: what will happen to Caracas Chronicles if Capriles wins?
For me, the chronicles must go on. If HCR wins, it will be the end of a very long chapter but the story would be still ongoing.
Yes, keep going and don’t change your name either…
However, I am changing my name-to” VIP noche”
(in honor of one of my hero’s Benny Hill)
Unless problems will magically go away, and we all sing cumbaya while driving in perfect roads, with gas at fulll price that we can afford, and hospitals that are like the Swedish, and empty morgues during the weekends, and Venezuelan start ups are getting IPOs by millions of dollars, then I’d say CC has to go. We can keep the monster at bay only if we become a better society. Capriles presidency is not a solution, it really is a make it or break it moment.
You must continue on, my friends. While it may appear that you are a run of the mill English language Venezuelan opposition blog, I think you contribute more than just opposition, but a cultural exchange, as well. I wish you to go on for many years to come, no matter what the future brings. I’m familiar with PanfletoNegro.com and I really liked your article there. I liked Pezer’s comment the most. :) You may also be familiar with El Libertario (on Nodo50.org, a hosting provider). I know I discovered it by reading Syd’s blog at one point, it has more anti-authoritarian stuff over there if anyone else is interested in this sort of thing.
I just LOVE the guys at El Libertario. I agree with lots of what they say, but not with all. However, I think they are vital to understand part of the Venezuelan landscape, and even if their prescriptions might be wrong, their diagnostics are often very right.
I’ve been buying El Libertario since it came out. As a conservative, I’ve always liked their take on the State… Ans I love how my students are puzzled by seeing me read it.
As a more recent addition to the Caracas Chronicles audience (reading since November of last year) I think the chronicles must go on. This blog is not only a way for me to procrastinate from my IB work, it’s a great collection of ideas and up-to-date information of the happenings in our country that would otherwise take ages to find. I personally tend to look for a more recent post here each day before looking at El Universal for news. Even if Capriles wins, we still have a lot to look forward to and room for improvement. Hell, what if MCM runs for president again in 2018 and wins?
And I dare to say that a future Caracas Chronicles will be MORE interesting.
Now we ALL agree that El Loco must go. We agree in very little else, you and Quico are on different sides of the political spectrum and I am further away from both of you. Once he is gone and the country starts to recover, we will be arguing about the right policies, analyzing effects, seeing examples of implementation around the world, debating.
Once he is gone finally a plurality of view points it’s going to emerge. I just hope we will be wise and pragmatic enough to change our minds when evidence is offered and not to drown Venezuela in a sea of blue or red dogma.

Enjoy
All that farewell episode gave me a stomach ache. Oh, the drama!
Telenovela pa’ lante….
More than drama, melodrama. Entering “cursi” territory. I felt appalled after 2 minutes.
And did you read the comments? They are so mental!
Edgy webby, no like. U said nothing about bacon goodness.
Just my opinion, I did not enjoy Panfleto Negro.
I do think Mr. Toro has the ability to contribute there.
(Whatever woos you, Mr. Toro..)I think we need to be learning Chinese..
VIP noche?
Of course, now that PN is mainstream in CC, the hipster does not like it!
Losing all of our hipster audience in 3, 2…
I wrote some pus about this.
Juan Cristobal the day that I write “man, those guys at cc cannot stop sucking up to the man” is also a day that I look forward too :P
Oh, the dilemma… God save me from becoming a pro-government shill.
Great article, Daniel.
This place ha become tan ladilla, that even te founder gets more fun un PN… la policia nacional, of course…
Quico, you know the saying
Once you go black…
